Some Updates on Lake Tahoe
SANDWICHED between the states of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is the capital of wintry sports in the United States. It’s got numerous entertainment diversions and not just skiing and sled racing. You can have parasailing along the lake or you can merely have a yacht cruise and sip some red wine with your romantic partner. You can rent a lake house and have a magnificent view of the sunset if you’re coming in from the California side. Or you can splurge at the casinos. Or maybe you can enjoy a couple of rounds in golf where PGA-certified instructors and caddies are there to assist you. Resorts blanketing the surroundings of Lake Tahoe also offer skiing lessons to bot children and adult amateurs alike in ice skiing.
Beyond that, there are numerous activities and updates currently going on in Lake Tahoe. If you are really a Christian, then you may have the instinct to think that Christmas is a celebration for children. What better way to satisfy oneself then to donate for charity, proceeds of which immediately go to underprivileged children in the areas around Lake Tahoe. It will surely be a jolly celebration in the California side as to date, there are already more than 700 underprivileged families consisting of more than a thousand individuals (mostly children) who have expressed their desire to party with us more fortunate ones during Christmas day in a soup kitchen in South Lake Tahoe. But this is not your ordinary weekend soup kitchen though. Since it’s Christmas time, the beneficiaries (many of which are just sleeping in the streets while others are refugees in trailer parks, not your recreational RV), will be eating turkey. As of the moment, there are already a total of 600 turkeys pledged. What is needed are toys for the children.
Lake Tahoe is the only region on earth where environmentalists encourage people to cut Christmas trees. This ironic action stems from the fact that dry Christmas trees can cause fire ignition. That is why the US Forest Service is encouraging everyone to cut Christmas trees such as white fir. They have a total of 3,000 fir, wine, cedar and other Christmas trees that need to be cut.
But let’s not forget altogether that Lake Tahoe is skiing country. In fact, it was the venue of a Winter Olympics that occurred here a dozen years ago or so. On Christmas Eve, there will be a ski-around with Santa. There will also be a snow making demonstration as well. There will also be skiing clinics for two weeks. And of course to heat up the night, there will be concerts featuring a lineup of pop, country and indie stars. House music will be played as well so everybody can grind to the beat of the music. After all, it’s not daily that we spend Christmas on Lake Tahoe so make the most of it while you’re staying here. Who knows, you’ll meet your soulmate here. Isn’t that great?
THIS holiday season; go to Lake Tahoe somewhere between the California and Nevada borders. It is the in thing this holiday as North Americans even those coming from Quebec or Alaska spend their vacation here. They not only ski here during their two weeks off from work, they also play some golf here, play some casino there and hike, bike or ride horses. Some also rather enjoy going to a lake cruise in a yacht in one of the largest lakes in North America.
